At Steamboat Engines.co.uk we have the knowledge and in-house facilities to produce steam engines upto approximately 50 iHP and we
have access to trusted external contacts for even larger work.
Our machine shop is equipped with modern CNC machinery and our design
studio uses the latest in 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
Kevin Slater is a Chartered Marine Engineer and, as such, is able
to both offer design guidance and advice as well as assessing designs old and new for safety and compliance.
Tips
Engine power
Always tend towards a larger engine than you calculate/think you need as there is nothing worse than being left behind by the fleet.
Boiler size
Similar to above - always spec for a larger boiler as it is no fun when out steaming if you have to constantly 'fight' with the boiler to give enough steam for your desired speed.
